SiTime announced MEMS silicon based mechanical oscillators with stability and "performance as good as or better than traditional quartz-based systems". What does it mean for embedded systems? It looks like we could expect soon microcontrollers with built in on-chip resonator, running at precise frequency, having two more IO-pins, and occupying less space on the PCB, than their predecessors.
